The Foreign Ministry announces the release of the Iraqi citizen Abu Alhssan Hamid Musaed, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, who was kidnapped three weeks ago in Al Bayadiyah village in the city of Homs, after coming from Basra for the purpose of marrying a Syrian girl.
And as a result of the relentless efforts made by the Iraqi embassies in Damascus and Beirut, in cooperation with the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, and direct communication with the security leaders in the Syrian government and the Lebanese security authorities, represented by the Intelligence Command the citizen was released.
The gang that carried out the kidnapping had demanded a ransom of $500,000, but the Iraqi Embassy and the National Intelligence Service were able to free him without engaging in any negotiations with the kidnappers, as well the perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance with the law by the competent authorities.
The Iraqi Foreign Ministry affirms its unwavering commitment to protecting its citizens abroad, and expresses its appreciation for the productive cooperation between the Iraqi security services and their counterparts in Syria and Lebanon, which contributed towards this success.
