Iraq Participates in Permanent Delegates Level Meeting of Arab League Council

Ambassador Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the League of Arab States, headed the Iraqi delegation to the 162nd regular session of the League of Arab States Council at the level of Permanent Delegates, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo.

The Palestinian issue was on top of the proposed agenda which was discussed in detail to be submitted to the Arab Foreign Ministers, in addition to following up on political developments and violations of the occupation forces in Gaza, Al Quds and the rest of the Palestinian territories. Issues of Arab affairs and Arab national security were also addressed, as well as following up on the situations in Lebanon, Yemen, Libya, Somalia and Sudan, in addition to Arab international cooperation.

Additionally, importance was attached on strengthening cooperation between Iraq and the Arab League, especially through Iraq’s donation to construct a building attached to the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, currently known as the “Iraqi Annex”, which reflects Iraq’s keenness to support the Arab League and enhance its role in discussing common Arab issues and interests.
