Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives Lebanese Ambassador in Baghdad

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the Lebanese Ambassador Mr. Ali Al Habhab at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. During the meeting they reviewed and exchanged views on the latest developments in the Palestinian and Lebanese arenas, with special emphasis on their impact on the regional and international situations.

The Minister referred to the tripartite initiative to cease fire in Gaza, expressing his hope for its success. He also affirmed the continued cooperation and coordination between the two countries, highlighting the depth of bilateral relations and the need for Iraq and Lebanon to have more security and stability. Minister Hussein expressed Iraq’s rejection for war and the need to control the prevailing state of tension.

The meeting also discussed economic and investment relations and cooperation at various levels, the Lebanese Ambassador indicated that there are about 900 Lebanese companies operating in Iraq, including 600 companies in Baghdad and 300 in the Kurdistan Region providing their services across various sectors.

At the end of the meeting Ambassador Al Habhab expressed his thanks and appreciation for the fraternal stances of the Iraqi government towards the Lebanese people.
