Iraqi Ambassador to Canada Meets Secretary General of International Civil Aviation Organization

Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Canada Dr. Abdulrahman Hamid Al Husseini met with Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), at the organization’s headquarters in Montreal. The meeting was attended by the Consul General in Montreal Counselor Sadiq Al Yasiri.

The instrument of the Republic of Iraq’s accession to the Protocol to Amend the Convention on Offences and Certain Other Acts Committed on Board Aircraft, concluded at Montréal 2014, was delivered during the meeting. As well emphasise was placed on Iraq’s willingness to fulfill all requirements for the return of Iraqi Airways to the European airspace.

On his part Mr. Salazar commended the efforts exerted by the Iraqi government to return to European and other global airspace, which he witnessed during his visit to Iraq in February 2023.
