Head of Europe Department Receives Ambassador of Spain to Iraq

Head of Europe Department Ambassador Bakr Ahmed Aljaff received Mr. Pedro Martínez Avial Martin Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Iraq, at the Ministry headquarters in Baghdad on Tuesday, July 30. The meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them to serve the interests of the two friendly countries, as well it dealt with means of cooperation on the most significant issues of common interest, especially the exchange of visits between senior officials from both countries, economic cooperation and trade exchange, and the holding of the Iraqi-Spanish Joint Committee, in addition to scientific and cultural exchange.

Ambassador Aljaff called for the necessity of reopening the consular section at the Spanish Embassy, and facilitating the granting of entry visas to Iraqi citizens, students and members of official delegations willing to visit the Kingdom of Spain, in addition he emphasized the need for continued cooperation and support between the two sides and proceeding to hold a political consultations round as soon as possible.

On his part the Spanish Ambassador extended his thanks and gratitude to Ambassador Aljaff for the meeting and the important topics he addressed in order to develop relations between the two friendly countries.
