Head of International Organizations and Conferences Department Receives Deputy Special Representative of Secretary General, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq

The Acting Head of the International Organizations and Conferences Department Dr. Fadel Al Rahim received the Deputy Special Representative for Iraq in the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) and Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator Mr. Ghulam Isaczai, on Monday, July 29. As part of the meeting they discussed files of joint cooperation between Iraq and United Nations specialized agencies. Dr. Al Rahim indicated the Iraqi government keenness to benefit from the advisory role of these agencies in the economic and development spheres, underlining its training expertise in this areas. Additionally, the two sides exchanged views on ways to organize future cooperation prospects between Iraqi national authorities and United Nations development and humanitarian agencies, in line with Iraqi foreign policy goals and the priorities of the government program relevant to economic and development affairs.

On his part, Mr. Isaczai expressed his satisfaction with the level of joint cooperation between the two sides, stressing his keenness to increase coordination and exchange of views with the relevant departments in the Foreign Ministry to facilitate the work of the specialized United Nations agencies operating in Iraq.
