Iraq’s President visits Iraqi Embassy in Paris

President of the Republic of Iraq Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid visited the Iraqi Embassy in Paris and met with Ambassador Dr. Wadee Batti and the embassy staff on Thursday, 25 July 2024. During the meeting President Rashid commended the Embassy’s efforts in facilitating Iraq’s participation in the Paris Olympics, stressing the importance of making every effort to serve the Iraqi community residing in France, indicating the need to strengthen Iraqi-French relations, explaining that Paris represents an important global center.

His Excellency indicated the keenness of the Presidency of the Republic to develop Iraq’s foreign relations and build multiple partnerships across various levels. He also reviewed the prevailing conditions in Iraq in more than one area, explaining that the security and stability witnessed in Iraq inspires optimism and requires everyone to work together to maintain it.

On human rights issues, President Rashid explained that many positive steps have been achieved through the cooperation of the Presidency of Iraq with the relevant authorities, which resulted in the release of 13,000 detainees. He pointed out that there are clear laws regulating Iraq’s position on various humanitarian issues.

On his part, Ambassador Batti commended the interest, directives and comments of His Excellency the President to enhance the role of the Embassy in providing support and assistance to the Iraqi community.
