Iraqi Ambassador to Russia Discusses Bilateral Cooperation with Special Presidential Representative
Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Russian Federation, Mr. Haider Mansour Al Athari, met with Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation and Special Presidential Representative for Middle East and Africa, at the headquarters of the Russian Foreign Ministry, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. As part of the meeting Mr. Bogdanov welcomed Ambassador Al Athari, expressing his appreciation for his effective role in strengthening relations between Iraq and Russia. He stressed the readiness of the Russian Foreign Ministry to overcome all obstacles that hinders joint cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Al Athari extended his thanks to Mr. Bogdanov, indicating the embassy’s willingness to facilitate the process of reissuing study invitations to Iraqi students who are willing to study in Russia, as well as addressing the issues of students who returned to Iraq to renew their passports and are now facing difficulty in returning, especially those who are studying in the final stages. Mr. Bogdanov explained that he would consider this issue to find an appropriate solution.
Additionally, Ambassador Al Athari touched on coordination with the Russian Foreign Ministry regarding the celebration of the eightieth anniversary of the commencement of the Iraq-Russia relations, stressing the importance of organizing this celebration, Mr. Bogdanov supported this proposal, stressing the interest of the Russian side in this regard and the need to take appropriate steps to organize the celebration. The two parties agreed to continue joint cooperation and the importance of repeating these visits to overcome all obstacles and strengthen bilateral relations.
This visit comes within the periodic visits made by Ambassador Al Athari to the Russian government authorities, within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
