Iraqi Embassy in Washington Organizes a Seminar on “Iraq’s Participation in NATO Summit” Discussing Iraq-U.S. Relations and Regional and International Issues
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, participated in a Seminar organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington, with a group of Think Tanks experts interested in Iraqi and regional affairs, on the sidelines of Iraq’s participation in NATO Summit. Minister Hussein touched on the invitation extended by the US administration to Iraq to participate in the 75th NATO Summit’s meetings, which were held in Washington from 9 to 11 July 2024, underlining the importance of Iraq’s participation in this summit in light of the challenges facing the world in general.
The Minister indicated that Iraq enjoys a strategic partnership with the United States of America, and looks forward to enhance and broaden this partnership to include all areas of political, economic, environmental, cultural and technological cooperation, to serve the interests of both countries.
The Seminar discussed the security situation in the Middle East, and Iraq’s stance calling for the necessity of stopping the war in Gaza, non expansion of the scope of conflict, and reducing escalation in the region, given the costly and dangerous repercussions that the countries of the region might have to bear as a result of the spreading of the conflict.
Additionally Minister Fuad spoke of the development of Iraq’s regional and international relations, and the country’s keenness to maintain balance and diversity in its foreign relations in a way that enhances and achieves Iraq’s political, economic, and security interests in the region.
