Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Meets Russian Ambassador to Iraq
On Monday, July 1, 2024. Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Bahr Al Ulum, received Russian Ambassador to Iraq Mr. Elbrus Kutrashev, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and broaden cooperation frameworks across various fields. The two parties touched on the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on September 4th.The two parties also discussed regional and global issues and crises, most notably the Russian-Ukrainian war, where Undersecretary Bahr Al Ulum, indicated Iraq’s firm stance of neutrality towards this war from its beginnings to the present, indicating that Iraq calls for peace and seek peaceful solutions and supports all initiatives that lead to a ceasefire.
Regarding the war launched by the Zionist entity on Gaza, the Russian Ambassador affirmed the Russian Federation’s support for the Palestinian people and its call for an immediate ceasefire and the necessity of delivering aid in addition to the release of detainees. He stressed that the only solution to end this crisis is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
