Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives Prime Minister of State of Palestine
On Thursday, June 6, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, received the Prime Minister of the State of Palestine Mr. Mohammed Mustafa, and his accompanying delegation at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Baghdad.
The meeting discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and the ongoing preparations for holding the meetings of the Iraqi-Palestinian joint committee, in addition to international developments, and the situation in Palestine. Minister Hussein affirmed his aspiration to hold the next meeting in Amman and discuss a ceasefire and the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian citizens of Gaza, stressing Iraq’s firm stance on the Palestinian issue, and warning of the repercussions of the continuation of the war in Gaza, on the stability of the situation in the region.
On his part, the Palestinian Prime Minister indicated that Palestine needs high coordination on the issue of the ceasefire, and to push forward in this direction, as well as Prime Minister Mustafa referred to the general conditions in Gaza, stressing that the continuation of the war leads to a lot of instability, praising Iraq’s permanent stance in supporting the Palestinian cause as a patriotic and national principle of support.
