Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Participates in Anniversary of Independence of Republic of Azerbaijan Celebration
Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for bilateral relations, Ambassador Mohammad Hussein Mohammad Bahr Al Ulum, participated as a guest of honor in the Independence Day celebration to mark the 106th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence, which was organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Baghdad on Sunday, May 26, 2024. The celebration witnessed wide participation from parliament members, and representatives of Iraqi ministries and institutions, in addition to several ambassadors accredited in Baghdad.
Ambassador Bahr Al Ulum delivered a speech in which he conveyed the greetings of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, congratulating the government and people of Azerbaijan on the anniversary of independence, Undersecretary Bahr Al Ulum also highlighted the depth of the historical and cultural relations between the two countries, which extend to more than fifty years of diplomatic cooperation.
The Undersecretary, indicated that Iraq, in light of its security, political and economic stability, seeks to strengthen bilateral relations with friendly countries, especially Azerbaijan, by expanding cooperation across variouse fields, adding that the Iraqi government is working to create the appropriate environment to encourage companies in the public and private sectors to invest in infrastructure, oil and gas sectors, in addition to encouraging tourism.
Ambassador Bahr Al Ulum concluded his speech by extending his thanks to the Azerbaijani Ambassador and the Embassy staff in Baghdad for their efforts, stressing the readiness of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to work with them to strengthen bilateral relations in various areas.
