Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets Swiss Minister of Justice and Police 

On Friday, May 24, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, met with Mr. Beat Jans, Head of the Swiss Federal Department of Justice and Police, on his official visit to Bern. During the meeting they discussed prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation and ways to develop relations between the two countries.

Minister Hussein expressed his thanks for the Swiss Confederation stances regarding the recovering of Iraqi smuggled antiquities. As well as the Deputy Prime Minister also stressed the necessity of resolving the issue of Iraqi funds smuggled abroad, which is held by the Swiss authorities, and hand them over to the Iraqi government.

In addition to the two parties discussed the possibility of signing an agreement to exempt the holders of diplomatic passports from the visa to enter Switzerland, and the cooperation between the Iraqi Ministry of Interior and the Swiss Federal Department of Justice and Police.
