Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Meets National Security Advisor to the US Vice President Philip Gordon
Within the framework of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein’s visit to Washington DC, on March 22, 2024, Minister Fuad Hussein met with Mr. Philip Gordon the National Security Advisor to the US Vice President, at the White House.
During the meeting Minister Hussein reffered to the Prime Minister Mr. Muhammed Shia’a Al-Sudani and US Vice President Ms. Kamala Harris, meeting which was held on the sidelines of the Munich Conference last February indicating it was an important, frank, and fruitful meeting.
Both sides discussed bilateral relations, especially in the military and security fields, in addition to they touched on the challenges facing the region and their impact on the internal Iraqi situation, Minister Hussein stressed that in the event of shaping and formulating a future vision for these relations, which is required, these challenges and threats should be taken into consideration.
in another context, the meeting discussed the recent talks that took place in Baghdad and the results of the Joint Higher Military Commission meetings between the United States of America and the Republic of Iraq.
At the end of the meeting Mr. Gordon expressed his happiness at the invitation of the Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation to Washington and expressed his hope that this visit will lead to furthure advance relations, and enhance ways of cooperation between the two friendly countries in a wide range of areas.
