Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets Canadian Minister of Defense

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, met on Monday, March 18, 2024, with Canadian Minister of National Defense Mr. Bill Blair, during his visit to Canada.

The meeting discussed strengthening of bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

Minister Hussein, expressed his appreciation for the efforts provided by Canada to Iraq in fighting Daesh terrorist organization, as well as, they reviewed the role of the Global Coalition and the NATO mission in supporting Iraq in its war against terrorism.

The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening cooperative ties between Iraq and Canada at various levels.

The meeting also discussed developments in the region, and the implications of the continuation of the Gaza war on regional security and stability.
