Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Receives Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister

Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Ambassador Muhammad Hussein Muhammad Bahr Al-Ulum, received Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey Mr.Ahmet Yıldız, and his accompanying delegation, on the sidelines of the security mechanism meeting between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Turkey in Baghdad.

During the meeting, both sided discussed the international and regional situation and the recent events across the region, in addition reviewing bilateral relations between the two countries at the political and economic levels, as well as, the security issues, and water issues and ways to address them, in preparation for the upcoming visit of the President of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary Bahr Al-Ulum confirmed the Iraqi government’s intention to move forward with the Development Road project, which will raise bilateral trade volume to very high rates, calling on Ankara to contribute to reconstruction and investment projects in various sectors after the security situation in the country has stabilized, which provided an incentive for foreign companies to work and invest freely and flexibly.

Mr. Bahr Al-Ulum, also extended his thanks for Ankara’s efforts to support the Palestinian people with humanitarian aid and the file of the wounded in Gaza, expressing Iraq’s readiness to cooperate with the relevant Turkish authorities with aim of coordinating the transfer of a number of these wounded to Iraqi hospitals.

On his part, Mr. Yildiz expressed his government’s continued support to the efforts of the current Iraqi government to boost economy and strengthen bilateral relations at all levels.
