Chargé d’Affaires ad interim in Tripoli Meets Libyan Minister of Justice

The Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the State of Libya, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sahhaf met on Monday, March 11, 2024, with Minister of Justice of Libya Ms. Halima Ibrahim, at the Ministry of Justice headquarters in Tripoli.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between Iraqi institutions and Libyan institutions, concerned with judicial and legal affairs and human rights, and the need of exchanging common experiences.

The two sides discussed issues concerning a number of Iraqis in Libya courts and judicial organs, Minister Halima Ibrahim expressed her keenness to find solutions to these issues, in addition to stressing the need for coordination regarding countering the ideology of extremism and Takfir.

On her part, Minister Ibrahim praised the organizational efforts that lead to the success of the Conference of Arab Ministers of Justice in its thirty-ninth session, which was held in Baghdad and headed by the Minister of Justice Dr. Khaled Shwani, welcoming the reopening of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Tripoli, and expressing her desire to visit Baghdad and discuss relevant issues between the two countries, noting the importance of bilateral cooperation with Iraq in the area of human rights and judiciary.
