Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Heads Iraq’s Delegation to Arab League Council Meetings

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, headed the Iraqi delegation participating in the 161st regular Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, which was held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the headquarters of the League of Arab States General Secretariat in Cairo.

In his speech, to which he referred in a press statement at the headquarters of the Arab League,  Minister Hussein reiterated Iraq firm stance in supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people who face policies of revenge and collective punishment by the Israeli army in Gaza on a daily basis, His Excellency also declared a decision by the Iraqi Council of Ministers to allocate an amount of 25 million US dollars to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), believing in the importance of the organization’s efforts to alleviate the burden of the Palestinian people by providing medical and relief supplies that have become essential for the sustenance of life in Palestine, calling on other countries to support UNRWA.

During the meeting of the Council, the Kingdom of Morocco handed over the presidency of the current session to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
