Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets Foreign Minister of the State of Palestine
On Friday, March 1, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Foreign Minister of the State of Palestine Mr. Riyad Al-Maliki, on the sidelines of the Third Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly countries and issues of common concern, in addition, emphasis was placed on the tragic conditions that the Gaza Strip is going through and the recent attack on citizens in the Strip, which led to the death of dozens of Palestinians and wounded hundreds of them. As part of the meeting, Minister Hussein touched on Iraq’s clear position in supporting the Palestinian people, whether through people’s and governmental aid or through continued communication with many states to increase pressure on the Netanyahu government to stop the war and massacres against the Palestinian people and deliver aid to the people of the Gaza Strip.
They also discussed the financial situation of UNRWA, how to deal with the financial crisis that the agency is going through, and the policy of a number of Western countries towards the agency’s work in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
On his part, the Palestinian Foreign Minister expressed his thanks and gratitude for the Iraqi government’s stances in support of the Palestinian people.
