Undersecretary for Multilateral and Legal Affairs Delivers Iraq’s statement at  High Level Segment of the Conference on Disarmament

Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Multilateral and Legal Affairs Mr. Omer Al Berzinji, delivered Iraq’s statement at High Level Segment of the Conference on Disarmament convened in Geneva, on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, with the attendance of the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Ambassador Abdul Karim Hashem Mustafa.

In the statement, Undersecretary Al Berzinji affirmed the government’s adherence to disarmament and non-proliferation agreements and treaties, believing that global accession to international agreements related to weapons of mass destruction and universal adherence to them, without discrimination, and the elimination of these weapons, are among the basic pillars that enhance global stability.

Mr. Al Berzinji reviewed Iraq’s stance on the Conference agenda, calling on all member states to find the political will and flexibility to bring the conference out of its current stalemate, affirming Iraq’s support for the establishment of nuclear-weapon-free zones across the globe, calling on the international community to implement the 1995 Middle East resolution.
