Foreign Ministry Summons United States Chargé d’Affaires and Hands him Note of Protest
On Saturday, February 3, 2024, the Foreign Ministry summoned the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the United States Embassy in Baghdad Mr. David Pecker. The head of America Department Mr. Diyari Ahmed Majeed, handed an official Note of Protest to the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. which included Iraq’s rejection and denunciation of the American aggression that targeted Iraqi security forces as well as civilian sites in Akashat and Al-Qa’im areas leading to deaths and injuries, among them were civilians, in addition to the damaging of residential buildings and citizens’ property.
As well Iraq further emphasized its rejection to be a ground for settling scores between rival countries, as our country is not a place for sending messages, and show of force between adversaries. The Iraqi government will exert all the efforts required by ethical, national and constitutional responsibility, to protect our lands, cities and the lives of our civilians and all security forces.
