Permanent Representative to UN Office in Geneva Delivers Iraq Speech at Conference on DisarmamentThe

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations Office in Geneva Ambassador Abdul Karim Hashim Mustafa, gave Iraq’s speech at the opening session of the Conference on Disarmament under the presidency of India.
The Permanent Representative affirmed Iraq’s adherence to the agreements and treaties of disarmament and non-proliferation, out of its belief that global accession to international agreements related to weapons of mass destruction and complying to them without differentiating, as well as the elimination of these weapons are among the basic pillars to enhance global peace and stability, reviewing Iraq’s stance on the issues at the Conference agenda, with the necessity of keeping nuclear disarmament topic as a priority, in his speech the Ambassador called on all member states to demonstrate political will and flexibility to get the conference out of the stagnation it has been experiencing for nearly three decades. In addition, Iraq will assume the presidency of the Conference on Disarmament for the period May 27 – June 21, 2024.
