Undersecretary for Political Planning Affairs Receives delegation of UNDP and Geneva Water Hub
On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, the Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Planning Affairs Ambassador Hisham Al-Alawi, received a delegation from the United Nations Development Program in Iraq (UNDP), and representatives of the Geneva Water Hub, in his office at the Ministry’s headquarter in Baghdad.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Alawi affirmed the Iraqi government’s interest in benefiting from foreign expertise, and its desire to activate Iraq’s role in international organizations.
The Undersecretary highlighted the current government efforts to find innovative solutions based on science to solve the problem of water scarcity, in addition to intensifying the efforts in the field of water diplomacy with neighboring countries, stressing on strengthening cooperation with the organization, and organizing a workshop for the students of the 28 diplomatic training course which is currently held at the Foreign Service Institute.
On their part, the members of the delegation expressed their readiness to cooperate with Iraq on water issues and present solutions to its scarcity due to climate change factors.
