Undersecretary for Political Planning Affairs Meets a Delegation from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Planning Affairs Ambassador Dr. Hisham Al-Alawi, met with a delegation from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East, and African Affairs Ambassador Worawoot Pongprapapant, on Monday January 15, 2024, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad.
During the meeting they discussed the possibility of restoring diplomatic representation at the level of a resident embassy in both countries, Dr. Al-Alawi stressed the importance of resuming the meetings of the fourth session of the Iraqi -Thai Joint Committee, in addition to exchanging high-level visits between both countries, and seeking to discuss draft memorandums of understanding for cooperation in various fields, including the exemptions of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports, and facilitating visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports.
The Two sides also reviewed ways of encouraging Thai companies to enter the Iraqi labor and investment market in various economic sectors and participate in all trade exhibitions held by Iraq, as well the possibility to launch direct flights between Baghdad and Bangkok.
