Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Presides the First Session of the Ministerial Council for Economy for 2024
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein Presided the First Session of the Ministerial Council for the Economy, with the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Finance, Trade, Agriculture, Labour and Social Affairs, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Head of the Securities Commission, and Prime Minister advisors for Economic and Legal Affairs and the Ministry of Oil Undersecretary, On January 8, 2024.
The Council discussed the items on its agenda and took appropriate decisions regarding them. The Council hosted the Ministry of Agriculture Undersecretary to discuss the submitted paper on studying methods for supporting the agricultural sector in all its aspects, for its great importance in supporting the economy in Iraqi. As well The Council hosted the Director of Karbala Refinery, and a number of officials in this project, for supporting the project to reach its full and safe operation.
The Council decided to exempt fish farms owners from rent allowances for the years after 2019, and at a 50% rate for projects that were damaged due to water scarcity and the cessation of work, with the exception of those who were compensated from the exemption.
The Council also directed the Border Ports Commission and Customs Authority to set a time period to return shipments that do not conform to specifications, and failed in the inspection, to re-export them within thirty days and inform the Council accordingly.
The Council also decided to ban the import of winter crops and open the import of watermelon and cucumber.
