The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Rome receives the former Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Rome received Dr. Siwan Barzani, former Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Luigi Di Maio, in his office at the embassy in Rome.
During the meeting, they discussed the most important common issues between the two friendly countries, on the occasion of the latter’s nomination as a representative of the European Union to the Gulf States.
Where the Ambassador welcomed His Excellency’s visit to the embassy headquarters, expressing his appreciation and gratitude for this important visit, especially after the clear and significant change in the important and distinguished relations between Iraq and friendly Italy, on various levels (cultural, security, economic) in addition to Iraq’s return to its leading position in the regional and international arena after the elimination of ISIS and the liberation of all usurped lands, indicating the keenness of the Iraqi government to consolidate and strengthen the Iraqi-European relations through its missions operating in the countries of the world and the European Union in particular.
For his part, His Excellency expressed his great pleasure in meeting the Ambassador, indicating the Italian government’s keenness to consolidate relations with Iraq and the Gulf states as important and priority countries for Italy and Europe and to build important bridges to strengthen these relations in other aspects that serve the interest of the two friendly countries, through approved diplomatic methods and through its missions. He also explained that Iraq occupies the first positions in the Italian market on the economic and investment levels, and through the presence of many public and private companies in Iraq.
