Iraq participates in the conference on strengthening resilience to climate change in Somalia
The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo, and its Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, Dr. Ahmed Nayef Rashid Al-Dulaimi, at the Conference of the League of Arab States and the United Nations on Drought, Food Security and Enhancing Resilience to Climate Change in Somalia, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat, on 6/12/2022.
The ambassador delivered a speech in which he focused on Iraq’s strong and firm position in supporting the brothers in Somalia, and the Iraqi government’s keenness to pay the contributions of the support fund provided to the brotherly state of Somalia in light of the difficult economic conditions that Iraq is going through as a result of the war on terrorism and the Covid-19 pandemic.
The agenda witnessed a number of files related to the crisis in Somalia, which dealt with mechanisms for coordinating urgent response in areas threatened with famine, examining the required investments for infrastructure, as well as developing a comprehensive strategy to coordinate efforts and future aid. It is worth noting that the conference witnessed the wide participation of international and Arab organizations and civil society, with the aim of contributing urgently to creating solutions to confront the humanitarian crisis in Somalia.
