Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein discusses with his Cuban counterpart the bilateral relations and means of its development
Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein has met the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two ministers discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and means to advance them to achieve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.
The Minister affirmed the importance of the scientific, cultural cooperation between Baghdad and Havana, and the signing of memoranda of understanding in various fields.
The two sides discussed the contents of the cooperation in the topics listed on the agenda of the United Nations at its 77th session, the mutual support between the two countries in international organisations, conferences, issues related to membership and candidacy, in addition to discussions that touched on the economic and political situation, and the preparations for Cuba’s assumption of the presidency of the Group of 77 + China. As well as Iraq’s presidency of the same group in 2025.
For his part, Mr Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla affirmed his country’s readiness to enhance the relations with Iraq in various political, economic, cultural and commercial fields, expressing his government’s thanks for Iraq’s supportive stances at the United Nations, referring to his country’s readiness to cooperate with Iraq.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein extended invitation to the Cuban Foreign Minister to visit Iraq in the context of enhancing the relations between the two countries.
