Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Rome and its permanent representative to the United Nations Organisations Presents His Credentials to the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation(FAO)
Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Rome, Dr Siwan Sabber Mustafa Barzani, has presented his credentials to Mr Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the FAO at the headquarters of the organiasation in Rome, as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations organisations.
The ambassador expressed his thanks and appreciation to the director of the organisation and all the friendly countries that stood by Iraq and supported it to confront the challenges facing it at all levels, confirming Iraq’s keenness to nominate for membership in the council, and to follow up the outcomes of the regional conference hosted by Iraq, and the translation of what was adopted in the Baghdad Ministerial Declaration in the light of the urgent challenges facing the region, in giving priority to the transition towards modern technological systems, supporting agricultural projects, empowering youth and the role of women, as well as the organisation’s cooperation on the shared waters crisis, especially after the exacerbation of the climate crisis and water scarcity.
On his part, Mr Dongyu welcomed the Ambassador, wishing him success in his new tasks as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations agencies and organisations accredited in Italy, commending Iraq’s efforts in hosting the (36th) FAO Regional Conference which was held in Baghdad earlier this year.
