Baghdad Hosts the Third Conference for Interfaith Dialogue between Iraq and the Vatican
Baghdad hosted the meetings of the Third Conference of the Permanent Committee for Interfaith Dialogue between Iraq and the Vatican City State, for the period (31/10-1/11/2022) at the Guest House of the Council of Ministers, with the presence of representatives from the three endowments and the representative of the Ministry of Endowments of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and the delegation of the Holy See, under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs represented by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Fuad Hussein, the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Ambassador Safia Talib Al-Suhail, Member of the Organising Committee of the conference, and Europe Department.
The conference commenced its work with the opening session, where the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Omar Al-Barzanchi, delivered a speech in which he referred to the importance of holding this conference, which comes as a practical translation to promote the values of tolerance, love and peace among the various peoples of the world, which in turn represent the most prominent bonds and commonalities on which the three monotheistic religions meet. The conference, which is one of the outcomes of the Pope’s visit to Iraq in 2021, represents a clear message that, despite the difficulties it had undergone, Iraq is able to build bridges of cooperation and joint action through the effective dialogue between different faiths.
