Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Islamabad Discusses with Minister of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development the Problem of Illegal Labour
Today, Monday, 22/8/2022, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Islamabad, Hamid Abbas Lafta, received Minister of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resources Development, Mr Sajid Hussain Turi, at the embassy’s headquarters.
During the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries. They also touched upon the common interests and risks of both sides, including the problem of illegal labour and the phenomenon of Pakistani violating the Iraqi Residency Law No. 76 of 2017.
On his part, Mr Turi announced his government’s endeavour to control this phenomenon through coordination with the Iraqi authorities, adding that the ministry is in the process of developing a new mechanism for Pakistani tourist companies contracting with the Iraqi side in terms of grouping visitors to curb this phenomenon.
In conclusion, the Ambassador invited the Minister to visit Iraq and meet the relevant officials in the Ministry of Interior to identify the reasons for this phenomenon and address it through legal means.
