Undersecretary for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meets Ambassador of the Vatican to Iraq
On 8/8/2022, Undersecretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Safiya Talib Al-Suhail, member of the Higher Preparatory Committee for the Interfaith Dialogue Conference, representing the Ministry of foreign Affairs, met the Ambassador of the Holy See to Iraq, Archbishop Mitja Leskovar, at the Ministry’s headquarters.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the preparations undertaken by Iraq to host the third conference of the Standing Committee for Interfaith Dialogue between Iraq and the Vatican, to be held at the end of next October, under the auspices of Prime Minister, Mr Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, under the direct supervision of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fuad Hussein.
The Nuncio to Iraq was briefed on the outcomes of the meeting of the Higher Preparatory Committee for the Interfaith Dialogue Conference, which was held at the Ministry’s headquarters on 3/8/2022, and the Ministry’s full preparations, in cooperation with the endowments to follow up the papers and files of the dialogue related to the next conference.
The Undersecretary affirmed the direction by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to follow up and cooperate to secure all the requirements and prepare the means to ensure the success of the conference, given the great importance of this event to Iraq, and His Excellency’s directions in creating national and international cooperation mechanisms to enhance the relations between the Islamic and Christian worlds and the Iraqi religious components to reject hate speech and extremism, celebrate religious and cultural diversity, and support the culture of moderation, peaceful coexistence, human brotherhood and love.
