Head of the Department of European Affairs Meets French Ambassador to Iraq

On 28/06/2022, The Head of the Department of European Affairs, Ambassador Safia Talib Al-Suhail, met the French Ambassador to Iraq, Mr Eric Chevalier, accompanied by Deputy Chief of Mission, Mr Jean-Christophe Barry.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of the Department welcomed the French ambassador, and they discussed the topics of common interest in a way that contributes to enhancing the bilateral relations between Iraq and France, most notably: enhancing the economic cooperation and Iraq’s welcome for a greater role of French companies to contribute to the reconstruction and creating infrastructure, as well as the discussion on the water file and climate change and enhancing the regional and international cooperation in this field.

They also discussed ways of enhancing the cooperation in the field of security and combating terrorism and finding new prospects for cooperation in the scientific and cultural fields, as well as discussing providing logistical support to open the French consulate in Mosul and a new French consulate in Basra in the future.
