Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Multilateral Relations Receives the Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Head of the UNITAD
On May 18, 2022, Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Multilateral Relations, Dr Qahtan Taha Khalaf, received, Mr Christian Richer, Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Head of the UN Investigative Team for Accountability of Da’esh/ISIS (UNITAD) and his accompanying delegation.
They discussed the latest developments of the work of the international team in Iraq, in accordance with its mandate emanating from Security Council Resolution 2379 (2017) and following up on the outcomes of previous meetings in a way that supports the capabilities of the Iraqi competent authorities regarding the investigation and identification of crimes committed by ISIS.
The Undersecretary also commended the efforts of the international team, emphasizing the importance of continuing communication and coordination with the various Iraqi institutions, in a way that contributes to facilitating and the success of the Team’s task.
On his part, Mr Christian Richer expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the various Iraqi institutions in facilitating the team’s task and making it a success.
