Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets His Lebanese Counterpart in Brussels
On 10/5/2022, The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fuad Hussein, met on the sidelines of his participation in the Brussels VI Conference on Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region, the Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Abdallah Bou Habib, with the presence of the Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs, Mr Hector Hajjar.
They discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to continue enhancing them on various fields. Mr Fuad Hussein commended the distinguished level in the relations between Baghdad and Beirut.
They also discussed the regional issues of common interest and developments in the region and agreed to continue consultation and coordinate efforts to support political resolutions aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region.
Mr Hussein emphasized that Iraq had been and still appreciates Lebanon and its brotherly people and will remain supportive of its brothers and sisters in Lebanon, referring to the importance of holding the Iraqi-Lebanese joint committee to implement all common issues and files between the two countries.
The two sides reviewed the brotherly relations that unite Iraq and Lebanon, and discussed the most important political, security and economic developments in the Lebanese and Iraqi arena.
On his part, the Lebanese Foreign Minister expressed his thanks to the government and people of the Republic of Iraq for their supportive positions to Lebanon and the provision of support and assistance to the Lebanese people, adding “It reflects the strength of the brotherly relations between the two countries”.
