Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets US Special Envoy for Iran Affairs in Doha
The Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has met the US special envoy for Iran, Mr Robert Malley, on the sidelines of his participation in the 20th Doha Forum.
During the meeting, they discussed the political and security developments in the region and their repercussions, the US-Iranian relations, and ways to activate the exploratory dialogues that have been held previously, and they also touched upon the ongoing negotiations in Vienna and the five + one countries.
The Minister affirmed the importance of enhancing stability and taking opportunities and coordination mechanisms, as Iraq follows the principle of de-escalation and the consequent interests of all parties, and how this reflects on security and peace in the neighbourhood of Iraq and the region.
On his part, Mr Robert Malley confirmed that the talks were good, and there are some other topics on the table, extending his thanks for the role played by Iraq in this field.
