Chargé d’Affaires ad Interim of the Republic of Iraq in The Hague Meets the President of the Conference of the States Parties to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons
Vice President of the Conference of States Parties to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Iraq, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr Ali Hilal has met in The Hague the President of the Conference of the States Parties to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, Mr Bard Svendsen.
During the meeting, they discussed issues related to the work of the OPCW, reviewing the latest draft resolutions that will be discussed during the upcoming meetings, and they also exchanged views on them, as Iraq currently assumes the post of Vice-President of the Conference of States Parties – Session (26). The Chargé d’Affaires confirmed the need to intensify the efforts of all countries, stating that the principle of consensus is very necessary within the organisation.
On his part, Ambassador Svendsen congratulated the Chargé d’affaires ad interim on the occasion of his assumption of his new position, wishing him success in his tasks, expressing his appreciation for Iraq’s neutral positions within the organisation, and its continuous keenness to preserve the professionalism and independence of the organisation’s work. The meeting has also attended the talks about the bilateral relations between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Svendsen expressed his gratitude to the Chargé d’Affaires for this visit, wishing him success in his tasks.
