Minister of Foreign Affairs meets the Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations in New York
Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has met Ambassador Linda Thomas Greenfield, Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations in New York. During the meeting, they discussed the most important developments in the political and security situation, and the efforts made to expedite the formation of the upcoming government. The Minister affirmed that the national forces are intensifying their dialogues to provide the necessary atmosphere to preserve the constitutional timetable to form the government, and to develop a road map for the success of its work.
They also reviewed the bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America and ways to enhance them, and they also discussed the developments on the regional and international arena, cooperation and partnership between the two countries in various fields at the bilateral level, multilateral action at the United Nations, and close cooperation between the Iraqi and American missions in New York.
The Minister affirmed Iraq’s keenness to enhance these relations, commending the positive and supportive role of the United States of America and its efforts at the Security Council and in the areas of development and Iraqi capacity- building.
On her part, Ambassador Greenfield confirmed the commitment of the United States of America to support Iraq and to ensure its security, stability and prosperity, and the continuation of joint work, especially by contributing to the United Nations programmes and providing development support for Iraq.
