On 19/02/2022, the Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met the Dutch Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Wopke Hoekstra,on the sidelines of the 58th Munich International Security Conference, which was held in Munich, Germany. During the meeting, they discussed the developments of the political process in Iraq and efforts to form the Iraqi government.

The Minister stated the importance of the Dutch support to Iraq, referring to Iraq’s need for the European support in all fields, foremost of which is support of the political process, and sharing of the European experiences in the field of dialogue and enhancement of democracy.

On his part, the Dutch Foreign Minister stressed the importance of Iraq as a pivotal country in the Middle East, commending its role in combating terrorism, and its role in stabilizing the region, stating that the Netherlands is always ready to support Iraq at all levels, commending the steps taken by the Iraqi government to resolve the problem of refugees.
