Charge d’affaires de Interim of the Republic of Iraq to Kyiv meets the Ukrainian Deputy Education and Science Minister

The Charge d’affaires de Interim of the Republic of Iraq to Kyiv, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Hussein Abbas Hussein has met the Ukrainian Deputy Education and Science Minister, Mr. Sergei Zakhareen at the Ministry headquarters. They discussed many issues of common interest, on top of which the cooperation between the Iraqi Higher Education and Scientific Research and its Ukrainian counterpart Ministry. This cooperation can be done through the following: 1) exchanging visits by specialists from both Ministries; 2) opening direct channels of communication between the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and the Iraqi Embassy in Kyiv; and 3) forming a joint committee specialised in scientific cooperation, aiming at re-obtaining the recognition of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Ukrainian Universities.

They have also discussed the possibility of signing Memoranda of Understanding between the Iraqi Universities and their counterparts in Ukraine in accordance with the specialty in order to exchange the expertise and offering scholarships to the students of both countries.

The Charge d’affaires has presented the inconveniences facing the Iraqi students in the Ukrainian Universities. He has also emphasised the importance of facilitating the procedures of visa issuance for the Iraqi students; and coordinating with the competent authorities to avoid any problems for them at the Ukrainian border points.
