Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo Meets the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research

On 03/01/2022, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo and its permanent representative to the League of Arab States, Dr Ahmed Nayef Rashid Al-Dulaimi met the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and the Head of the Central Department for Foreign Student Affairs, Dr Hajar Seif Al-Nasr, at the Ministry’s headquarters.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the Ambassador and his accompanying delegation, pointing out Egypt’s keenness to enhance cooperation with the brotherly Republic of Iraq.

On his part, the Ambassador thanked the Minister of Higher Education for the warm reception and conveyed the congratulations of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Nabil Kadhem Abdel Sahib, on the occasion of New Year, wishing the government and people of Egypt further progress and prosperity, pointing to His Excellency Dr Nabil’s keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation with the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt.

The Ambassador also valued the effort made by His Excellency Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to support Iraqi students in Egypt, expressing the desire of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq to cooperate with Egyptian side through twinning with Egyptian universities, affirming the keenness of the people of Iraq to obtain degrees from Egyptian universities; for their distinguished scientific position, pointing to the importance of scientific and cultural communication between the two countries. The Ambassador presented in front of the Minister the problems of Iraqi students studying in Egyptian universities.

On his part, His Excellency the Minister confirmed the need to consolidate the partnership between the two countries in the educational, cultural, scientific and research fields, in the light of the growing bilateral relations between the two countries, pointing to Egypt’s keenness to provide all fields of higher education, training, scholarships, cooperation in joint educational programmes, and conducting Scientific projects in areas of common interest. He conveyed his congratulations and greetings to his Iraqi counterpart, wishing the brotherly Republic of Iraq further progress and prosperity.

During the meeting, they discussed a number of obstacles facing the Iraqi students studying in Egypt, the mechanisms to overcome them, and the possibility of increasing the number of scholarships offered to Iraqi students studying in Egyptian universities at the postgraduate level (Master – PhD) and the ministry’s readiness to provide all the necessary facilities for Iraqi students to study in Egyptian universities.
