Iraq participates in the 14th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Water

Iraq participated in the meeting of the fourteenth session of the Arab Ministerial Water Council, with a delegation headed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo, and its permanent representative to the League of Arab States, Dr. Ahmed Nayef Rashid Al-Dulaimi, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat.

The Ambassador delivered a speech on behalf of the Minister of Water Resources in the Republic of Iraq, in which he focused on the challenges facing humanity, of which the water issue is the most important, and pointed out that Iraq suffers from water scarcity, and that it is in the process of using all modern means and methods to rationalize consumption and maximize economic returns with the aim of sustainability development through integrated water resources management.

During the meeting, a number of files related to water and its resources were discussed, and the follow-up of the implementation of the executive plan for the Arab water security strategy in the region with the aim of facing future challenges and requirements for sustainable development. The meeting also included support for Iraq’s rights regarding the preservation of water resources in the Tigris and Euphrates basins.
