Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomes the Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the German Foreign Ministry

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of foreign affairs Fuad Hussein welcomed the Head of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the German Foreign Ministry, Mr. Tobias Tinkl, today, Thursday, 8/12/2022.

The two sides discussed issues related to human rights, especially with regard to the issue of the Yazidis in Iraq and their rights.

The Minister expressed the Iraqi government’s keenness to strengthen the foundations, principles and values of democracy in Iraq, stressing; The Iraqi government is working to protect the rights of all the components of the Iraqi people, by encouraging them to stay in their regions to preserve the diversity that forms the Iraqi fabric, providing them with the necessary protection, working to return them to their regions, providing all the necessary services for that, and taking all means to protect the societal diversity in Iraq.

The two sides also discussed the regional and international developments of concern and the prominent role of Iraq in resolving conflicts between the countries of the region through holding bilateral dialogues between the parties to the conflict, noting; He pointed out that the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, in its second edition, to be held in the Jordanian capital, Jordan, will be a platform for exchanging opinions and viewpoints regarding the many crises that the countries of the region suffer from.

For his part, Mr. Tobias Tinkl stated that the German parliament is about to issue a decision in January, considering what happened to the Yazidis in Sinjar as a crime of genocide.
