Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs receives the US Ambassador in Iraq; and they discuss the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein received today, Sunday, November 13, 2022, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Iraq, Mrs. Alina Romansky.

During the meeting, they reviewed the progress of bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington, and ways to strengthen them to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples, and they discussed the agreement resulting from the strategic dialogue between the two countries, especially in the economic and commercial field.

The Minister stressed the need for joint international and regional cooperation to confront the immediate global challenges, most notably the continuation of combating terrorism and extremism, addressing economic fluctuations and health crises, and confronting severe climate changes that pose a threat to all.

The Minister offered his condolences for the assassination of an American citizen in Baghdad last week, and stressed that investigations are continuing to uncover the perpetrators and bring them to justice, and when investigations reach their final results, they will be announced.

For her part, Mrs. Alina Romansky, the Ambassador of the United States of America, congratulated the Minister on the occasion of forming the new government and renewing confidence in him as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, stressing her country’s continuous support for Iraq in various fields, especially in the field of the war against ISIS and climate change.
