Undersecretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Omar Al-Barzanchi Confirms the Importance of Enhancing International Cooperation to Confront Transnational Organised Crime

The Undersecretary for Administrative, Technical and Legal Affairs, Ambassador Omar Al-Barzanchi, affirmed that Iraq confirms the importance of enhancing international cooperation to confront transnational organised crime.

This came in a speech delivered by the Undersecretary of the Ministry during his presiding over the delegation of the Republic of Iraq participating in the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime (UNTOC) which is being held in Vienna for the period 17-21/10/2022.

The Undersecretary also emphasized that Iraq had demonstrated a strong political will with regard to addressing the issues of migrants and migration, as Iraq has expressed its commitment to the Global Compact Initiative for Migration since its adoption, and it is the only country that presented its new national strategy for migration as a national framework for the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration.

It is worth noting that Iraq is chairing this session, represented by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Austria, Mr Bakr Fattah Hussein, the permanent representative of Iraq to the international organisations in Vienna.
