Undersecretary for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Meets the Director of the Academic Research Institute in Iraq (TARII)

Undersecretary for Administrative, Technical and Leagal Affairs, Ambassador Omar Al-Barazanchi, has met the Executive Director of the Academic Research Institute in Iraq (TARII), Ms Amanda Long, at the Ministry’s headquarters.

The Undersecretary reviewed the friendly relations with the countries of the world, especially with the United States of America, and called for enhancing the cooperation between the Foreign Service Institute and non-governmental organisations such as (TARII), particularly in the areas of preserving Iraqi cultural heritage being an inherent part of the global cultural heritage, exchanging experiences and visits between the two sides such us cultural lectures and seminars, providing scholarships to Iraq researchers and postgraduate students, enhancing the joint projects between the Iraqi academics and their American counterparts, especially in the field of social sciences and humanities, , and some specialities in the natural sciences.

 It is noteworthy that the Academic Research Institute (TARII) is concerned with promoting scholarly research on topics related to ancient Mesopotamia, which includes a number of American universities and museums, that seeks to obtain funding to support the scholarship programmes for postgraduate students and PhD holders from various disciplines to conduct scholarly research on Iraq, and runs the scholarship programme for Iraqi academics to assist them in conducting research within Iraq.

The Assisstant Dean of the Foreign Service Institute, Dr Muhammad Adnan Mahmoud, Head of Translation Section, First Secretary Ahmed Hashim Salih, and Head of Training Section, First Secretary Faisal Abdul Elah Fahim have attended the meeting.
