Undersecretary Safiya Al-Suhail “High-Level Coordination between Iraqi Institutions to Prepare all Requirements to Make the Interfaith Dialogue Conference a Success”

The Undersecretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Safiya Talib Al-Suhail, has chaired the meeting of the Higher Preparatory Committee for the Third Conference of Interfaith Dialogue between Iraq and the Vatican, to be held next October under the auspices of the Prime Minister and under the supervision of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The representatives of the three endowments have attended the meeting.

The Undersecretary reviewed the efforts and procedures which are being followed up by the Ministry to complete the preparations for holding the conference, and prepare the draft papers of the conference by the Higher Preparatory Committee, in coordination and cooperation with the Pontifical Council through the embassies of both countries.

Ambassador Al-Suhail expressed her appreciation to the Vatican and the Pontifical Council for their keenness to hold the conference, noting the efforts exerted by the Higher Committee with all its members from the representatives of the Iraqi Endowments.

They also discussed the content of the draft paper which will be discussed during the conference, in addition to discussing the preparatory and logistical procedures with respect to the holding of the conference. The Undersecretary affirmed the need for high-level coordination between Iraqi institutions to prepare all requirements that would make the conference a success.

It was agreed to add the Protocol Department of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as members of the Preparatory Logistics Committee, which will commence its work soon.

It is noteworthy that the Interfaith Dialogue Conference between the Pontifical Council and the Iraqi Endowments will discuss a cooperation paper in the educational field and recommendations to be issued by the conference on the joint action mechanism.
