Ministry of Foreign Affairs Holds Workshop in cooperation with the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law

 Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by the Foreign Service Institute, has held a joint workshop in cooperation with the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law.

Dr Salih Hussein Al-Tamimi, Undersecretary for Policy Planning, opened the workshop by recalling the importance of the international humanitarian law and its applications in Iraq in the context of the war on terrorism.

The Undersecretary also spoke about the diplomatic role played by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in regional and international forums to publicise the efforts of Iraqi security forces in protecting the lives of civilians during the war against ISIS.

On his part, Dr Ibrahim Al-Zubaidi, head of the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law, spoke about the efforts exerted by the committee by organizing introductory seminars and workshops with the Iraqi concerned ministries and institutions and working on producing a guide on international humanitarian law.

The workshop also hosted Dr Fadel Al-Gharawi, member of the High Commission for Human Rights, and the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Baghdad.
