Minister of Foreign Affairs Reviews the Bilateral Cooperation and Regional and International Developments with US Ambassador to Iraq

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Fuad Hussein reviewed the most important files of the bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the United States of America, in addition to the most important developments at the regional and international levels.

This came during his meeting with the US Ambassador to Iraq, Ms Alina Romanowski, On Sunday, June 5, 2022.

During the meeting, they discussed the most important developments of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and the efforts of the Arab Contact Group in dealing with the repercussions of the crisis and its effects on the world, referring to the virtual meeting which was held by the ministers of the Arab Contact Group, with the participation of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. The Minister emphasized that the relevant ministers had submitted the impacts and risks resulting from the ongoing war, and its direct impact on international peace and security.

He added that the “Arab Contact Group” will hold a meeting to study issues related to its future work in order to activate its work for which it was founded.

On her part, the US ambassador affirmed that the United States supports Iraq in various fields, and it would continue to do so. The two sides discussed the overall developments in the Iraqi situation. She looked forward to the formation of the new Iraqi government during the upcoming period, and thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs, for what the multiple and deep topics they had discussed, including the efforts of the Arab Contact Group.
