The Government of the Republic of Iraq categorically rejects, and strongly condemns, the military operations carried out by the Turkish troops by bombarding Iraqi territories in the Matina, Zab, Afashin and Bassian areas in northern Iraq by Atak helicopters and drones.
Iraq regards this action as a violation of its sovereignty and the sanctity of the country, and an act that violates international charters and laws that govern the relations between countries. It also violates the principle of good neighbourliness, which should be a reason to ensure that the participatory security work to be carried out in the interest of both sides.
The Iraqi government emphasizes that the territories of Iraq are not a base or pathway to inflict damage on any of the neighbouring countries, and it also refuses to let Iraq be a theatre for conflicts and settling scores for other external parties.
